USA Moves Down in FIFA Rankings

Tag: UncategorizedMax Zeger @ 7:05 am

The USA suffered a large drop in the FIFA World Rankings for July.  In June, USA was ranked in 21st position.  However, the month of June was not good to them, losses to England, and Spain, and a tie against Argentina moved the USA all the way down to 30th place.  Is this a fair ranking?  Yeah, probably.  The teams ranked ahead of them are not that much better than them though.  USA is good enough to beat teams like Ukraine, Sweden, Paraguay, Egypt, Colombia, and Uruguay.  However, the USA knew that there rankings would probably take a hit when they scheduled such difficult friendlies.  Overall, a fair ranking I’d say.

What do you think of the USA dropping down the rankings?  Is it what you thought would happen?  Is it a fair ranking?  Let your voice be heard below.

I don’t know how fair the rankings were to the US. I mean we did lose to England, and Spain, and we looked really bad against England, with small improvements against Spain, but against Argentina, we showed the team we can be, and the team we are. I was definitely surprised by the rankings, as I know that we are better than Mexico which was ranked in the top 20. Oh well, the FIFA rankings don’t really matter that much anyways, but it would have been nice to see us higher, just to show the world what we are.

I think also that the FIFA rankings run on a four year schedule so if we did really well 4 years ago, and we did, We would have lost points even if we had one all 3 of the games. I really think all the fifa rankings are is bragging rights and maybe a nice into before a game. I certainly think the US is capable of winning matches against the 10 or 15 teams in front of us. I don’t think they’re very important.
