US Women Down Japan 1-0

Tag: UncategorizedMax Zeger @ 8:14 am

It was nerve racking at times, similar to the men’s match vs. Japan, but when it was over, the US women breathed a great sigh of relief.  The ladies needed a win to be in good position to advance to the knockout round, and they got the necessary three points.

A 27th minute goal by Carli Lloyd was enough to see the Americans to a 1-0 victory, but it wasn’t a dominant performance.  A lack of finishing ability left the USA in the lead, but Japan easily could have won the game.

The US women now are in good position to advance with a win or a tie in their next match against New Zealand.

What do you guys think of our ladies winning?  Did anybody get up early and watch?  Any thoughts go below.
