Transfer Talk: Freddy Adu on the move?

Freddy Adu’s first season at Benfica was filled with highs and lows.  His early season form as a sub showed progress and promise but he didn’t make the substitue bench after coming back from Olympic qualifying.  Freddy had to deal with three different managers and now a fourth.  He had a tumultuous season to say the least.

With his position in Benfica’s plans not known to the public, many Adu fans and fans of US Soccer were hoping a move would come.  No news had surfaced however, leading American fans to think it would be another year on the bench for Adu.

American fans will be delighted to hear the news I have uncovered.  La Gazetta Dello Sport, Italy’s leading sports newspaper, (it’s printed in pink, what can I say, Italians have class) reported that both Bologna and Genoa are interested in Freddy.  Both teams play in the highly competitive Serie A, a league that suits Freddy’s playing style.  His free flowing style and flair is what Serie A encourages.

Here is to hoping that Freddy Adu joins a new team and gains some valuable experience and playing time.  Also to him playing in Serie A so I can see him play on FSC.

What do you think of Freddy’s potential move?  Is it what you were hoping for?  Leave your comments below.
