Rosenborg not Giving Up on Kenny Cooper
Just when you thought the speculation had died down about Kenny Cooper moving abroad, in comes news that not only is Rosenborg still very interested in Cooper, they are making the long trek from Norway to Toronto to watch the MLS All Star game. Cooper is set to start in Thursday’s match against West Ham and Rosenborg is keen to evaluate the young forward before improving their previous offer of $1.25 million.
As I’ve stated previously, I don’t think that Dallas can afford to sell Cooper, and I also don’t think moving to Norway is the best career move. Cooper is moving towards the prime of his career and he needs to move to a more competitive league to improve his game the most. Cooper should hold out on a move until after the season and then look for a move to a top four league in Europe.
Dallas simply can’t afford to lose Cooper yet. They are three points out of a playoff spot and Cooper is to thank for roughly half of Dallas’ offense. There is no immediate replacement that Dallas can find so they can’t afford to let him go unless they’re offered a sum they can’t refuse.
What do you think about Rosenborg’s continued interest in Cooper? Is Rosenborg a good place for him? Your thoughts below.

It’s good that there is interest but Norway is certainly not where he belongs. He is too good to go there

completely agreed, He is far to skilled to waist a year or two, possibly more in Norway. Additionally, Dallas needs him if they want to get any points for the rest of the season so it’s not in their interest to sell him either. My bet is he leaves to a top 4 Euro league after the season.

He has been called up to the National Team a few times, and I know of one cap at least (and one goal in that game). He is very good, and an excellent finisher. He knows where to be at the right time, and with his size and presence in the box, he will be a very hot commodity this off season. I agree with Max. He will be with a good team in Europe next season, if any of those teams have any sense at all. But I think a goal in this week’s all star game will be a great way to get his name out to the rest of the world.
