Oguchi Onyewu Set to Join Ajax?

Tag: UncategorizedMax Zeger @ 4:00 pm

I’m giddy with excitement.  Gooch, to the club that produces players of the highest quality.  I could go on for hours stating the fantastic players that have come out of that club, but I’ll spare you.  Read on…Oguchi Onyewu showed why he is such a great player at the Confederations Cup, and Ajax’s reported interest is a fitting reward for a great tournament.  Reports out of the Netherlands have Gooch joining up this week, and a friend in the Netherlands has just told me that Ajax has a press conference scheduled to unveil a new player on Monday.  Now there are others that have been rumored to be going to Ajax (the likes of Joaquin and Sebastien Prediguer have been talked about recently), so this is not guaranteed to be Gooch’s unveiling, but things do seem to fit… no?

We’ll see come Monday, but i feel fairly confident in saying Gooch has shunned two teams from Italy, one team from Spain, and chosen Ajax.

Are you excited?  I know I am!!!!  Let’s hear your thoughts on this move

And Zeger doesn’t disappoint. Glad to have this back for sure, now I don’t have to scour the internet for American transfer talk.

looks like a great move. much better than the fenerbahche move that was reported to almost have gone through. a great stepping stone to a big time club, but I still think it would have done him a world of good to go to England where the physicality of the league would prepare him for WC10 a little more.

and how old is he? 27? It will be interesting to see how long his contract is, so if he does play well, when he can move onto a top European team. Ajax are good, and like you said they produce great talent, but they aren’t playing against the best in the world either.

While the Dutch league isn’t the best, he will face good competition, will be in the Europa league, and next year, probably be in champions league next year. This is his best option in my book, although genoa wouldn’t be bad either.
