Michael Bradley: Most Expensive American Ever?
Michael Bradley’s signature is hot property and Monaco has put all other interested teams on high alert. A new report from Le Figaro, a daily French newspaper, says that Monaco have offered an astonishing $13.3 million for Bradley’s services. The offer is reportedly double what Bayer Leverkusen offered recently. Middlesborough, who are also keen on Bradley is set to up their offer for his services.
This morning, I profiled the potential suitors for Bradley, but it appears that many of them will be priced out by Monaco’s offer. $13.3 million will be the most payed for any American player, even more than Jozy Altidore’s transfer to Villarreal earlier this year. Personally, Bradley is not worth close to $13.3 million dollars and that offer seems ridiculous. I value him at around $8 million but it looks as if he’ll be sold for much more.
What do you think of this incredible offer? Is Bradley even worth that much? Leave your thoughts below.

I’m still going to hold back a bit since it’s still only a “rumor”. But WOW, I think Bradley is much more in the range of being worth $6-$8M. We all know that Monaco has the money to splash around and if they’re willing to fork over that much then he’s surely in their plans to be an immediate starter. Obviously as a USMNT fan it’s always good to hear our young Yanks getting this sort of attention from several different teams, let’s hope something goes down sooner rather than later.

That valuation is much better Chuck. That fee is roughly what Frank Lampard is being rumored at. It seems way to big, but if he’s that important to them, he will get a lot of playing time.

You can’t argue with his production, 15 goals from midfield.
You would think Premier League clubs would be able to match that if they really wanted him.

I haven’t seen him play for heerenveen but his production speaks for himself. When I do get to see him, he’s playing for the national team and hasn’t looked as good. Maybe it’s his position because he plays d-mid for USMNT. I believe he is a box to box center midfielder for Heerenveen. The problem with the national team is that Bradley likes to have him play d-mid. He needs to be able to get up in the box to really be effective. Middlesborough is going to match the offer it looks like so we’ll see. I expect him to sign in a week so we should know soon.

This is really interesting. I have only seen Bradley play for USMNT, and he doesn’t seem like a player that is worth that much. I see him in the $6-8 million range as well. This is kind of exciting that an American player is getting this much hype. I hope he goes to a team where he plays everyday, where ever that is. He needs the experience for the national team and for his own betterment. I hope he goes to the EPL, just so I can see him and hear more about him during the season. very interesting though.

I agree Charley. He’s obviously a talent but your valuation seems more realistic. I think that Monaco needs to show that it can spend, and that is what it is doing. I hope we’ll be able to see him play so I’m hoping either Germany or England. That’s just me being selfish though.
