Marvell Wynne to Europe?

Tag: UncategorizedMax Zeger @ 4:19 pm

There seems to be a late flurry of transfer speculation for an American Olympian by the name of Marvell Wynne.  Marvell Wynne, who plays his club soccer for TFC had a strong showing at the Olympics and clearly, many European scouts were impressed.

Wynne’s agent, Lyle Yorks had the following to say:

“Marvell has had interest from Europe since the Olympics”

Yorks wouldn’t divulge who the interested teams were or even the leagues, so your guess is as good as mine on that.

Unfortunately, I doubt this move will ever materialize.  Wynne is key to the Toronto defense, and letting two young talents go in a week would be a disastrous move for TFC.  With Edu gone, it would be an ill advised move to let Wynne leave as well.

What are your views?  Personally, I would like to see him go to Europe, but I don’t see it happening this time.  Any thoughts are welcome below.

I would love the move. He needs to improve his touch so a move abroad would certainly help that. Although gaining a UK work permit is out of the question.

im thinking france, portugal or netherlands, he has no chance of moving to england or scotland. He also needs to improve his crossing ability. It is really bad right now.

  3. Chuck says:

He could be one of the fastest players I’ve ever seen and as long as he stays strong defensively he could be very useful to a number of European teams regardless of his crossing ability. And plus he’s got on of those long throw ins that only Americans have.

Marvell is a beast I hope he can go and up his game in Europe…I love MLS but I love the US National team as well and anything that helps them is fine by me.

I think France would be a good move for him, and AS Monaco’s president said he was looking for a couple of young Americans, but I’ve only seen one so far. Sounds reasonable to me.

    yeah, me too.

He’s my favorite player to watch for the US when he is going forward. He is the fastest soccer player I’ve ever seen play for the US, and he is always looking to make runs up the sidelines… My only problem with him is that while he looks to make smart passes on the ground when he goes forward, he seems to just blast the ball out of the back when there is anyone within 10 yards of him. With that said, I hope he owns the right back position by the next world cup (and I am a big Cherundolo fan)
