Houston Find their Savior
Houston, the team who doesn’t have an offense has just given themselves what they so desperately needed. Brian Ching is one of the most dangerous forwards in the league, but without another forward to play off of, he has been very average. Houston have come to terms with a former player, Nate Jaqua who spent the last half of the season playing in Austria.
Jaqua who scored five goals in ten matches in Austria was not offered a contract extension, and subsequently left to find other work in Europe. When no good offers materialized, he looked to come back to MLS.
Houston, who conveniently hadn’t filled the void left by Jaqua himself, welcomed him back with open arms. It is rumored though, that Jaqua has a clause in his contract which will allow him to go to Seattle for next year. Jaqua is a native of Oregon and wants to play near his home.
My take on Jaqua’s move back is only positive, unless you’re a fan of another team in MLS. Houston has the players, oh wait, except for a forward. With this move, they now have one of the best forward tandems in the league. When you combine that with their already strong midfield and defense, Houston is set to become a serious challenger for the MLS Cup.
What do you think of the move? Is Houston going to be as good as they were the past season now? Your thoughts below.
