Freddy Adu to Monaco?

Freddy Adu appears to be out of Benfica’s plans, at least for now. Benfica seem keen on loaning the 19 year old out and Monaco looks like a likely destination. Jerome De Bontin, the chairman of the club said they “Will take up a young American.” when he spoke to local newspaper Monaco-Matin. With only one young American available (Michael Bradley will be purchased not loaned) it appears Adu is the player Bontin is speaking of.
Bontin, himself is an American citizen, and he might be interested in boosting the squad by renewing ties with a country he lived in for a good portion of his life. Monaco has struggled badly since appearing in the finals of the 2004 Champions League. Hopefully Freddy can make a difference for Monaco as he didn’t feature down the stretch of the season for Benfica. Adu had also been rumored to be going to either Genoa or Bologna in the Italian Serie A.
What do you think of Adu’s potential move to Monaco? Is it a good situation for him? Let me hear what you think below in the comments section.

Don’t know much about Monaco’s current roster except that Koler just left, but if Freddy has a chance at playing consistent first team ball then this is a great move. I’d say the Ligue 1 and Portguese liga are pretty comprable so I don’t see why there’s any reason he shouldn’t do well there.

I’d have to agree chuck, I honestly believe freddy has the ability to do great things if given the chance. Monaco was 12th in ligue 1 last year so I think he will have an opportunity to play. He certainly does need first team football so any move that gets him that has to be considered beneficial for him.

Ligue 1 is a much better level then Portugal. That said in Ligue 1 there’s lots of crosses, lots of play along the touchline. So it’s up to him to create in the middle given that.

I can’t wait until Rennes plays monaco if he does move. Bocanegra vs. Adu. That would be fun to watch

Good move for Freddy. Another year or two hopefully we will see him in the EPL. Let’s see how he does. All he needs is consitency.
