Four Americans on the Move with Less than 3 Days Left in Transfer Window
The transfer window (aka. silly season) is winding down, but in this case means the most action we’ve seen in a while for our Americans abroad. We have less than three days left until the transfer window ends, and there are four Americans looking to make deadline moves to new clubs.
Preston Zimmerman
A man who moved to Europe in search of high quality first team football didn’t get what he wanted. After being buried on Hamburg’s reserve squad and never making a first team appearance, his agent has said he will be on a new team by “September 1st”. Zimmerman is attracting interest from an unnamed German club, as well as a Danish club, and a loan move is very probable at this point.
Chance of a move happening: 98%
Kamani Hill
US fans got a taste of Kamani when he was on the US Olympic Qualifying roster playing as a right back, but his natural position is a striker and that’s where he plays for Wolfsburg. Unfortunately, Kamani hasn’t appeared all that frequently and Wolfsburg don’t want to let him leave on a free transfer so a move is becoming increasingly difficult. There are teams interested from Scandanavia, Ligue 1, Ligue 2, Germany, and Belgium, with no specific teams mentioned yet.
Chance of a move happening: 75%
Michael Bradley
Michael Bradley has been the hottest American target coming off a season where he scored 15 goals from midfield, and he is garnering interest as you all know from many clubs. It looks like the main suitors are know Hamburg, Celtic, and Middlesbrough, with Middlesbrough already making an offer to Heerenveen. The only reason a deal won’t be reached is if Heerenveen sell Daniel Pranjic. Heerenveen won’t sell both of those young talents unless they get two great offers.
Chance of a move happening: 85%
Oguchi Onyewu
Gooch has been a hot item for the last two weeks, and things have just gotten hotter since his great performance against Liverpool in the Champions League. Since Standard was eliminated from the Champions League, it makes it all the more likely that Gooch will be sold to the host of clubs after his signature. You can add a new club to the list, and it’s Aston Villa. After watching Gooch at Anfield, the club which already has two Americans could be ready to add Gooch as their third.
Chance of a move happening: 95%
What do you think of our Americans on the move? Where should they go, what should they cost? What is the best place for Gooch? Would you like to see him in Italy, Germany, England, France, or Spain? Your thoughts below.

Add in an apparent offer coming in for Kljestan from FC Twente of the Dutch League. McClaren is the coach there.

yeah i saw that. I’d say that’s about 10% though. Chivas won’t let him go easily.

I think all of these moves should happen. I am very excited about them. I like Gooch at Aston Villa, but I also like him in Italy as well. I think that would be a good league for him. and Bradley to Celtic would be cool, as Beasley and Edu are on the Rangers. It could be a very interesting rivalry for US fans to watch. Hill and Zimmerman need to play, and they need to move to a club where they can. and I don’t think Chivas will let Kljestan go before the end of the season. better chance during the winter break.

Jose Mourinho was interested in Gooch when he was at Chelsea, but Newcastle beat him to the loan deal which he was apparently after once Carvalho went down. Apparently, the Special one sees something in Gooch, and I’d love to see him at Inter.

First off, there is no way Onyewu will end up at Inter. Besides that, all of these moves are interesting. I really hope to see Bradley in the Premier League. With him banging with the best players in the world, he could only get better. I also want to pick up a new jersey and him joining Middlesbrough would be perfect for that. Kamani Hill seems to be a promising talent that could some day make a great impact on the MNT. I saw him in person at Olympic Qualifying, and, even at right back, he looked impressive getting forward. He has good size and speed. I hope Gooch ends up somewhere else other than rotting in Belgium again. It has been a good experience for him, but as everyone saw against Liverpool, he needs to be at a better club.
