Imagine waiting at a stadium through a three hour delay to see the half hour of a soccer game. Would you do it? It wouldn’t be for me, but that was the reality last night at RFK stadium. Even the most faithful fans such as the Barra Brava and the Screaming Eagles deserted after a while. Now imagine you’ve been waiting to see the same game for seven weeks. It sounds like a game the gods just didn’t want to see played right? Continue reading “DC Downed by Houston, It only took 5 hours!”

I’ve been around soccer for a long time and I’ve never seen anything as curious as LA’s transfer strategy. Instead of adding more defensive help, (something they really need), they are poised to add more attacking quality. YS has learned that Nolberto Solano, who last year played for West Ham is close to joining LA. Nolberto Solano is a talented midfielder who will bring some help and will also let David Beckham stay out on the right side. Continue reading “Nolberto Solano to LA, Edson Buddle to Norway”
FC Dallas has finally decided they care about scoring goals. YS has learned that FC Dallas is very close to signing Ariel Ortega, a former Argentine International, and a current player at River Plate. Ortega, who is 34, is a veteran of three World Cups and has over 90 caps for Argentina.
John Ellinger, An assistant coach for FC Dallas had this to say.
“Our priority is to find a high-quality striker, who can play immediately and Ortega has these characteristics. We want to sign a player who can make an impact, and who is also experienced, so that he can be complemented by Kenny Cooper. Although we understand that an international superstar like Ortega, who is as popular as Diego Maradona in Argentina, is costly.”

Transfer Season is to put it lightly, hectic. That’s why it has been interesting to see the talk about Michael Bradley go down. With teams like Hamburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Middlesborough, Blackburn, and Monaco all vying for Bradley’s signature, you’d think there would be plenty of talk, but there hasn’t been recently. However, an executive at Heerenveen has revealed a lot. Yme Kuiper said this to the team’s website.
“Bradley’s name comes up on the list of many different clubs. His departure is a bit dependent on third parties – if other clubs’ players leave, the ball starts rolling. If Bradley does well (in China), there will be interest. At this moment, we assume that he won’t play for us this season.”
