Freddy Adu’s first season at Benfica was filled with highs and lows. His early season form as a sub showed progress and promise but he didn’t make the substitue bench after coming back from Olympic qualifying. Freddy had to deal with three different managers and now a fourth. He had a tumultuous season to say the least.

Wilman Conde, Chicago Fire defender and aspiring boxer (joking) reportedly took it to Cuathemoc Blanco. A Scuffle in the locker room last friday resulted in a “Fist fight.” Coach Dennis Hamlett said “Something happened yesterday, we addressed it, and moved on,” Conde had this long drawn out answer when asked about what happened. ”Nothing.” What do you think about Captain America (Evander Holyfield) vs. Wilman Conde (Mike Tyson)? Who do you think will win? Leave your thoughts about the boxing match below.
PS- No Ears were actually harmed at Chicago Fire training.

Carlos Ruiz’s future looks in doubt. Ruud Gullit decided not to include Carlos Ruiz in his 18 man traveling roster to DC on Sunday, despite finally re-gaining his health. Ruiz was injured in the first game of the season and has appeared sparingly since. Ruiz also seems to be surplus of requirements at forward. With Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan combining to score 21 goals, Ruiz has struggled for playing time. Another reason Ruiz is on the trading block is the Galaxy’s atrocious defense. LA has allowed a league leading 28 goals in 14 games, yup, 2 goals a game. You cannot expect to win while letting up an average of two goals a game. Alexi Lalas realizes the need for defensive re-enforcement and Ruiz’s DP level salary if offloaded could clear some space to sign a defender. Chivas USA is interested in Ruiz and it would be ideal for Ruiz as he would not have to leave Los Angeles.
Do you think the deal will get done? What will LA do? Comments are welcome below.

To be clear, the second number was last week’s Power Raning.

Let me ask you a question… Who are the two hottest teams in MLS? The answers are LA and DC, the two teams that will meet tomorrow at 12 on ABC. The match will be used as a amuse bouche to the Euro 2008 final that immediately precedes the LA-DC matchup. This is strictly an American Soccer site but I can’t wait for this epic double header.
