Charlie Davies Signs with Sochaux
We all saw this coming didn’t we. It had been talked about last winter, and it finally happened today. Davies shunned approaches from other teams in France as well as teams from Holland and Germany to join up with Sochaux. Davies had already agreed to a contract with Sochaux, but was merely awaiting a fee to be agreed upon. The fee is undisclosed, but I’ve been told it is somewhere around 2.5 million Euros. Read on…
Do I like this move? Yes. Sochaux have just sold a striker, so Davies at the very worst will be the third striker, but chances are, he will be starting in Ligue 1. I also like that he hasn’t moved to a league that isn’t too big. Davies, although talented, is not yet ready for the Premiership, or La Liga, but France is a stepping stone to those big leagues. He will be in the shop window, and if he can prove his worth by bagging some goals, he could be in line for a move to a top European club in a few years.
What do you think of the move? Excited to see Davies finally take get his long awaited move to France? Let’s hear it.

i live in the states but am from the Sochaux Area and i must say i am delighted The US striker has joined my old hometown pro team. The youth academy there is very thorough with player development and i think davies will be a Great addition to the roster. Sochaux has a great european history and are looking to reconnect with success. typically they play in a 4-4-2 formation but i think Davies with his speed and guts will treat the team and the fans. good luck to him and thanks to you Americans who prove Soccer in the USA is on the rise. good luck with the national team !

Yeah, this is a good move, a step up in competition, and a good situation to be going into.

Nothing new Zeger? Are you on hiatus again? Sad, I had thought surely you would have some transfer speculations by now. Especially seeing as how Goal.com says Livorno are after Landon Donovan and Ricardo Clark…
