Carlos Ruiz Traded to Toronto FC!

Tag: UncategorizedMax Zeger @ 7:40 am

The Galaxy have finally offloaded Carlos Ruiz.  The negotiations between Toronto and LA has been going on for quite some time, but last night, an agreement was reached.  Sources with knowledge of the negotiation say that LA will receive a draft pick, and they will finally have the cap-space to add Eddie Lewis to their roster.Toronto yesterday waived midfielder Lauren Robert to make room for Ruiz, Robert struggled to have a serious impact with Toronto since joining in April.  Robert was also waived because of his large salary, roughly $330,000.

A source close to Ruiz tells me that the Guatemalan is not to happy about the move.  Not only does he not want to go to Toronto, he definitely doesn’t want to play on the artificial turf.

Eddie Lewis will now join the Galaxy, and could be ready for their game on thursday.  He’s currently in Guatemala City with US National Team, but his legs are fresh because he hasn’t played since June.

What do you think of this big time trade?  Are you happy LA finally dumped Ruiz?  Frustrated that LA signed a midfielder instead of a defender?  Any thoughts go below.

With Eddie Lewis and David B, L.A.’s midfield will be interesting.

I think it will be a great midfield, but their neglect for defense is astounding. i hope they don’t make the playoffs, because at the rate they’re going at, they are going to allow the most goals. it would be fitting for the team that allows the most goals and neglects to improve their defense doesn’t get to the playoffs.

I like not having Ruiz anymore. But, I don’t like not having Cory Gibbs either.

The Galaxy could have used gibbs. I bet Bruce Arena would have picked him up if he was the coach when the decision was made. Arena is a big Gibbs suporter, and he realizes that LA needs defense.
