Bruce Arena Named Coach of LA Galaxy

Tag: UncategorizedMax Zeger @ 5:37 pm

Bruce Arena’s era has begun in LA.

According to sources within MLS and the Galaxy, Bruce Arena will be the next head coach of the LA Galaxy.  Everybody who stayed up late and watched the Galaxy play Chivas USA last night saw Arena in the owners box, being courted by Tim Lieweke.  Lieweke was reticent to say much about any deals in the works, but we now know that Arena was being offered a job.

Arena is a good hire who knows the MLS market and how to work it.  He will instantly command the respect of the players due to his impressive track record, and will be a calming influence in a clubhouse that could use a steady leader.

What do you think of the hire?  Is Arena the right man to turn around the LA disaster?  Who will Arena attempt to bring in?  Your thoughts below.

I don’t think this hire will have a big affect right away, but maybe Bruce’s hard nosed culture will eventually rub off on the squad, because we all know they are relatively poor defensively. I think it’s an interesting hire for sure.

  2. Jonesta says:

If Arena has a brain he will bring in a defense…anything other than that and the lunacy that is LA Galaxy will have rubbed off on him.

  3. Ryan says:

Arena won’t start to have an impact until the off season, but watch out then. Half the Galaxy’s roster will be sold, and don’t be surprised to see Pablo Mastroeni in white and gold next season. Arena loves that dude.
