A Blanco Bust Up (The Man is Trouble)

Tag: UncategorizedMax Zeger @ 2:56 pm

Cuathemoc Blanco is fast becoming the MLS bad boy.  The Mexican international had a bust up in practice last week with Wilman Conde.  Many thought that Conde was the culprit but maybe we jumped to conclusions to fast.  Last night, Blanco received a red card in Chicago’s 2-1 loss against DC United.  He punched and attempted to poke Clyde Simms in the eyes which in turn provoked Marc Burch to shove Blanco to the ground.  Both Burch and Blanco received red cards but the trouble wasn’t over.  Blanco was idling off the field, and a DC United employee went to escort him to the locker room.  He then head butted the employee, sending him to the ground.  DC United has given MLS video of the match and the incident and the league will do what they see fit.

There is no video of the off the field incident yet, but here is a video of the punch by Blanco.  It appears on the right side of the screen at the 28 second mark.  It is an atrocious act by Blanco and he appears to be losing his head.

It looks like Blanco is very prone to fighting these days.  What do you think about this incident?  Speak below/

I can’t STAND Blanco!!! No questioning his footballing prowess - he’s a playmaker and has a huge following from his Club America days. I was at the game a few weeks ago when Chicago played at DC and Blanco scored an absolute screamer from a good 25~30 yards out. Then, being the class act that he is, Blanco taunted the home crowd (who had been booing him all night for his constant diving and whining and complaining to the ref). DC lost that game but has since beaten Chicago twice. As they say, revenge is sweet!! I haven’t seen the incident yet, but if it’s as bad as it sounds I hope he gets a 4-match ban.

yeah sorry about the vid, it got taken off you tube and I can’t find a replacement yet. I was at that same game as well and he was acting like a dick the hole night. Yeah, he full on punched Clyde Simms then head butted a DC official. A class act huh. I don’t know if he can get a MLS ban because it is a USSF sanctioned tournament, but here’s to hoping he doesn’t play in US Open Cup again. It sounds like he has a rotten attitude.

I really don’t like Blanco either. He is such a diver, and brings the game down by it. He is talented but I think his team should do something about it, and either sit him for a few games, fine him or something else. If the MLS can’t do anything, Chicago should.

he has so much skill on ball but he is the laziest player there is. He plays no defense and he’s a midfielder. When people play him a through ball he yells at him, he’s a joy to watch but he is such an annoying player. I hope he gets banned for a bunch of MLS games. I think Chicago would be better with out his ego too. (I’m not complaining since i’m a DC fan)

Blanco is a very good player, and is one of the top players in the MLS. There are few that can play like him. The diving and the taunting is all part of his game.

  7. THe Boss says:

Maybe the MLS can learn a little something from him too.

  8. Max Zeger says:

agreed boss, but you cant throw punches and head but employees. You can’t no matter who you are. A great player but he’s a thug.
